2024 Stitching Plans

I hope everyone is ready for the Christmas holidays and have some quality time to spend with the family and friends xx

I have been spending a lot of time thinking about how I’m to tackle my stitching in 2024. I’m going to roughly do the same as last year:

  • 4 New Starts Allowed: 1 per quarter. Birthday New Start will be in 1st quarter if I decide to have a new start.
  • Each wip to have 500 stitches put into it before moving onto the next wip.
  • Each wip must be worked at least twice during 2024. (this is due to WIPgo and Magical Stitches Yearly Challenge).
  • Focus to finish months June & December: wips that have been called by WIPgo are eligible for Focus to Finish month.
  • Aim to finish 6 WIPs in 2024.
  • Aim to work on 3-4 WIPs a month
So with these guidelines in mind (all of which are stolen from my friend Sabea - if it works for her I’m sure it’ll work for me πŸ‘πŸ») all I needed to do was find some stitching groups and games on Facebook to help me get the stitches in and stay motivated.

These are the ones I have chosen to take part in:

WIPgo

WIPgo is a bingo board with goals in it. Every month 2 numbers are called and this will dictate which WIP I will work on each month. I’m hoping to get a blackout this year 🀞🏻

I Dare You SAL

This is Sarah’s SAL with her I dare You SAL Facebook group. She basically dares you to complete 6 WIPs within first half of the year and another 6 in the latter half. I have chosen 6 WIPs for both 6 month periods:
  1. Folk Art Fox
  2. Quilted Heels
  3. Dahlia
  4. Sally Squirrel
  5. Beneath the Harvest Moon
  6. Little Tiger Cub
Sarah is due to spin the wheel sometime between Christmas and New Year which will choose the order it’s supposed to be stitched in. This is optional of course, she leaves it all to the stitcher’s discretion so it’s basically anything goes πŸ˜‚

WIP Warriors

Scattergories - monthly challenge

Now this Facebook group I discovered late November 2023 and I have become obsessed with their stitching challenges especially Scattergories. I love the mental challenge of trying find links to one of the 12 categories to my wips and I’ve made it a personal challenge to attempt to link 1 wip to all the categories. It is quite difficult because a letter is chosen at random and you have to make all the links begin with that letter and you can’t repeat the word more than once. December I managed to link 10 out of 12 categories to Beneath the Harvest Moon with the letter C. It made my brain hurt and it was so much fun πŸ˜‚ Bet you didn’t know that there was a link between Beaches and Scarecrows!!!

Great Aussie Road Trip - year long SAL

Okay now bear with me, I know that you are all now thinking that I’ve completely called off the wagon and bumped my head but I can double dip these stitches with Scattergories and any other event I’m participating in so it’s not too bad. Plus I’m intrigued to see what happened as we stitch our way around Australia. 2023 was a road trip around America and I’ve heard people say it was a lot of fun.

Semi Sane Stitchers

This or That monthly Challenge
This is a non counting focus challenge where you stitch on a wip that has a particular colour or shape in it. January is White or Circles so I can find a wip that has white or circles in it. Simples!

Magical Stitches - Yearly Challenge

The event hasn’t been published on the group yet but essentially I need to catch 50 creatures but I have to start at beginner level and stitch 500 stitches per creature. Then advance to next expertise level until level 4 which has 2000 stitch count requirements. That’s 5000 stitches x 50 creatures. 🎢insane🎢πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ

Myths & Magic Wars - stitching war game

This is done in rounds with breaks in between each battle. I’m in the Werewolf Clan and we battle it out to win the throne of Stitchovia. It’s fast pace but fun!
🐺🐺🐺 werewolves like to play!! 🐺🐺🐺

I’m pretty sure there are other events and games and puzzles that I’ll join in on throughout the year but for now this is a lot to keep me busy in my downtime as a mum and wife (probably too much). It all looks insane on paper but really all of it is just stitching once but posting several update pics to the stitch count required. Hopefully all of batches of 500 will get me progress in every wip on WIP List A.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog of stitching chaos πŸ˜‚ and please leave a comment letting me know your stitching plans for 2024 or a link to your blog so I can check it out xxx

WIPocalypse Check In January 2024

This month has been rather productive and it surprised me, especially since a I’ve a busy home life. 🀱🏻 This month I stitched a total of 2,741 stitches over the 5 WIPs I had picked out for January: January WIPS WIPgo block 9 - Gangster 630 stitches completed whilst playing the Myths and Magic Wars for round 3, and first level for the Alux creature in Magical StItches. Not a page finish yet but I’m hoping Marilyn will come up again on the Full Coverage Wheel soon in order to get the rest of the stitches done before the end of the year. WIPgo block 22 - Kelly Eden Kelly Eden is my success story for January. 1104 stitches done and I hit my page finish goal for this wip. Awesomeness!!! This wip was part of the Muth and Magic Wars and completed 2nd level for the Alux creature.  I thoroughly enjoyed stitching on this one and can’t wait to stitch on it again.  I Dare You Sal WIP - Quilted Heels This is my ongoing IDY Sal project that I will have each month until it is finished. I a...

January 2024 Stitching Plans

πŸŽ‡πŸ₯³HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE πŸ₯³πŸŽ‡ I hope everyone had a great time over Christmas and is ready for 2024. I’m pretty sure I have already bitten off more than I can chew but that is usual for me. I fantasise about all the things I want to do without having any thought of it being realistic. Dream Big or Go Home…. Isn’t that the saying? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So read on if you want to see what I wish to be working on this month 🧞🧞‍♀️🧞‍♂️ Each month I am hoping to work on 3-4 WIPs. WIPgo and I Dare You SAL will determine what I will work on each month and if by a miracle, I have enough time to fit in another WIP I have created the Wheel of Full Coverage WIPS to decide on the 4th project. WIPgo  The numbers called for January are: 9 - Gangster Marilyn   22 - Kelly Eden I Dare You SAL Sarah called the order for the SAL and the first WIP is: 2 - Quilted Heels  I will be working on this wip each month until it is completed. hopefully it won't take me too long.  Backstitching part is not thr...
