2024 Stitching Plans

I hope everyone is ready for the Christmas holidays and have some quality time to spend with the family and friends xx

I have been spending a lot of time thinking about how Iโ€™m to tackle my stitching in 2024. Iโ€™m going to roughly do the same as last year:

  • 4 New Starts Allowed: 1 per quarter. Birthday New Start will be in 1st quarter if I decide to have a new start.
  • Each wip to have 500 stitches put into it before moving onto the next wip.
  • Each wip must be worked at least twice during 2024. (this is due to WIPgo and Magical Stitches Yearly Challenge).
  • Focus to finish months June & December: wips that have been called by WIPgo are eligible for Focus to Finish month.
  • Aim to finish 6 WIPs in 2024.
  • Aim to work on 3-4 WIPs a month
So with these guidelines in mind (all of which are stolen from my friend Sabea - if it works for her Iโ€™m sure itโ€™ll work for me ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป) all I needed to do was find some stitching groups and games on Facebook to help me get the stitches in and stay motivated.

These are the ones I have chosen to take part in:

WIPgo

WIPgo is a bingo board with goals in it. Every month 2 numbers are called and this will dictate which WIP I will work on each month. Iโ€™m hoping to get a blackout this year ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

I Dare You SAL

This is Sarahโ€™s SAL with her I dare You SAL Facebook group. She basically dares you to complete 6 WIPs within first half of the year and another 6 in the latter half. I have chosen 6 WIPs for both 6 month periods:
  1. Folk Art Fox
  2. Quilted Heels
  3. Dahlia
  4. Sally Squirrel
  5. Beneath the Harvest Moon
  6. Little Tiger Cub
Sarah is due to spin the wheel sometime between Christmas and New Year which will choose the order itโ€™s supposed to be stitched in. This is optional of course, she leaves it all to the stitcherโ€™s discretion so itโ€™s basically anything goes ๐Ÿ˜‚

WIP Warriors

Scattergories - monthly challenge

Now this Facebook group I discovered late November 2023 and I have become obsessed with their stitching challenges especially Scattergories. I love the mental challenge of trying find links to one of the 12 categories to my wips and Iโ€™ve made it a personal challenge to attempt to link 1 wip to all the categories. It is quite difficult because a letter is chosen at random and you have to make all the links begin with that letter and you canโ€™t repeat the word more than once. December I managed to link 10 out of 12 categories to Beneath the Harvest Moon with the letter C. It made my brain hurt and it was so much fun ๐Ÿ˜‚ Bet you didnโ€™t know that there was a link between Beaches and Scarecrows!!!

Great Aussie Road Trip - year long SAL

Okay now bear with me, I know that you are all now thinking that Iโ€™ve completely called off the wagon and bumped my head but I can double dip these stitches with Scattergories and any other event Iโ€™m participating in so itโ€™s not too bad. Plus Iโ€™m intrigued to see what happened as we stitch our way around Australia. 2023 was a road trip around America and Iโ€™ve heard people say it was a lot of fun.

Semi Sane Stitchers

This or That monthly Challenge
This is a non counting focus challenge where you stitch on a wip that has a particular colour or shape in it. January is White or Circles so I can find a wip that has white or circles in it. Simples!

Magical Stitches - Yearly Challenge

The event hasnโ€™t been published on the group yet but essentially I need to catch 50 creatures but I have to start at beginner level and stitch 500 stitches per creature. Then advance to next expertise level until level 4 which has 2000 stitch count requirements. Thatโ€™s 5000 stitches x 50 creatures. ๐ŸŽถinsane๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคช

Myths & Magic Wars - stitching war game

This is done in rounds with breaks in between each battle. Iโ€™m in the Werewolf Clan and we battle it out to win the throne of Stitchovia. Itโ€™s fast pace but fun!
๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ werewolves like to play!! ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ

Iโ€™m pretty sure there are other events and games and puzzles that Iโ€™ll join in on throughout the year but for now this is a lot to keep me busy in my downtime as a mum and wife (probably too much). It all looks insane on paper but really all of it is just stitching once but posting several update pics to the stitch count required. Hopefully all of batches of 500 will get me progress in every wip on WIP List A.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog of stitching chaos ๐Ÿ˜‚ and please leave a comment letting me know your stitching plans for 2024 or a link to your blog so I can check it out xxx

My 2023 Wrap Up

Welcome to my blog and thank you for taking the time to stop by and check it out. Here you will find posts mainly about my cross stitching but occasionally I may switch it up a bit and show progress on a knit or crochet project if the mood strikes. So to begin, I thought the best thing to start off with was a 2023 Wrap up post since we are now mid-December. 2023 was a good year for progress, considering I was pregnant for half of it and a new mum for the rest of the year, and the stitching success was largely due to the support and encouragement from my friends Sabea and Sarah. You can check out Sarahโ€™s blog at  Marneys Mixed bag  and we are still trying to encourage Sabea to jump on the blogging bandwagon ๐Ÿ˜‰. In 2023 we imposed a set of rules for ourselves to help minimise the effects of Startitis and see more stitches in our current works in progress.  The main thing was that we allowed ourselves only 5 starts for the year, 1 per quarter plus a birthday start. The new s...

WIPocalypse 2024: Intro and WIPs List

Hello all, welcome to my blog where I talk about my favourite hobby, cross stitching. I may drop in the occasional blog post about my other hobbies, including crochet or knitting from time to time. My name is Bonnie, I'm a married and a mum to three gorgeous children; two girls almost in their teens and a baby boy. As you can imagine Iโ€™m kept pretty busy with family life and so cross stitching is my โ€œme timeโ€ to help me relax and stay sane ๐Ÿ˜‰ if I am able to fit it in of course.  ~~~~~~x~~~~~~x~~~~~~x~~~~~~x~~~~~~x~~~~~~  So for 2024 my goal is to reclaim a little bit of stitchy time on a regular basis and to reduce my WIP pile a little bit too. Therefore I have decided to participate in WIPocalypse which is a Stitch Along (SAL) created by Melissa Kent Krueger. Please check out her blog post  2024 wipocalypse info  for more details.  As you scroll down you will see a portion of the projects that I amassed since 2015 when I discovered cross stitching. To ga...
